Neela Montgomery is an international consumer CEO who has led digital and retail businesses in Malaysia, Germany, the UK and now the USA.
She was until Aug 2020, the CEO of Crate & Barrel holdings, a global home furnishings retailer that includes Crate & Barrel, CB2 and Hudson Grace. Overseeing all aspects of the company, Neela led a progressive growth strategy—developing tools, culture and relationships with retailers, manufacturers, and tech to propel the heritage brand into the future of retail. Under her guidance, the company adopted 3D and AI technology to enhance the customer experience and launched industry disrupting partnerships with start ups such as Zola in gift registry and Fernish in furniture rental to extend customer acquisition. As a result, the business operated over 50% ecommerce participation and $1 billion in ecommerce sales by end of her tenure.
Before 2017, she was at Otto Group on the Executive Board and responsible for retail and brands as well as Executive Chairwoman across five different operating companies including Crate. Prior to that she spent 12 years at Tesco PLC invarious leadership roles in strategy, international, merchandising, eCommerce and grocery retail rising to oversee the $10 billion General Merchandise division for the UK business and sitting on the UK Board.
Neela studied English Literature at Oxford University and holds an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore. She is a member of the 2020 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Institute which challenges entrepreneurial leaders to build a better society .
Since 2017 she has been a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Logitech and serves on the Audit committee. She lives outside Chicago with her husband Michael and two boys.
